MENTAL HEALTH PROJECT

'moments'


Emma is passionate about bringing dancers awareness towards their mental health. She has seen many dancers struggling with poor mental state or illness. Through her teaching and creative work the studio, Emma ensures that there is a positive and encouraging working atmosphere; she believes that both dancers in training and working professional dancers lack knowledge and often support in sustaining a career in dance. 

 

 

 

MOMENTS is an artistic project directed by Emma Layne. 

 

The project work with invited dance students and professional dancers explores the topic of mental health in the dance industry; the annual performance is an accumulation of creative work in collaboration with the artists. 

 

 

The international cast of dancers for the project performance are primarily based in Berlin, Germany.

Invited dancers include:

-Professional students under age 18 (age range 12-17) in full-time training at German State Ballet Schools

-Professional freelance dancers working in Germany

-Professional dancers working in the Ballet companies of German Opera Houses

 

 

 

The MOMENTS project explores the relationship between artistic work and lifestyle, and the impact which the arts and entertainment industry and theatre life has on our private life. 

 

The event focuses on the topic of vulnerability, and is presented to a close network of dancers, performing artists, counsellors, social workers and mental health experts. 

 

The annual MOMENTS programme comprises of: dance performance, short talks, film presentations and interviews. 

 

 

 

The Moments project was an amazing opportunity and I loved every minute.

It was great being able to share the stage with so many different dancers

and it came together so well. I can't wait to see what Emma does next!
